“Is this a good time to buy a home?” It’s a question I hear all the time.

My answer? It depends more on you than the market.

Before deciding, ask yourself:

Is my income stable?
Am I financially prepared for more than just the down payment?
Do I plan to stay in the home for several years?
Have I talked with a lender and know what I can comfortably afford?
Will the monthly payment fit comfortably into my budget?

There will always be headlines about interest rates, home prices and what the market might do next. But trying to perfectly time the market can be difficult.

Instead, focus on what you can control: your finances, your goals and whether buying makes sense for your current situation.
